GRAFTON CYCLE CLUB RACE REPORT – 21 May 2011
Grant Howard dashed past Brady Ingram to win the Club Handicap race at Pringles Way on Saturday. Col Walters finished third with Aaron Watts fourth. Craig Evers had fastest time at an average speed of just on 41 kms for the undulating 46 km course.
The race was marred by a fall after 6kms when a touch of wheels brought down Kelsey Wilkes. That saw several riders abandon, or stop to see that Kelsey was OK before continuing. It was the strong bunch of Tim Noble, Col Walters, Brady Ingram, Lachlan O’Reilly, Aaron Watts and Grant Howard, riding off four and a half minutes after ‘go’ and six and a half minutes before scratch, that was to produce the placegetters. The bunch was able to stay together for the whole race, except for Tim, who probably worked too hard early and faded late in the race.
