Just a reminder that there is just over a week left to enter your team for the 100km teams time trial in Grafton on Sunday June 10th -the Long Weekend – . Thanks to the support of Clarence Valley Council and McDonalds there is a $2500 prize pool. Plus as per the event tradition any team that can break the current record that has stood for over 10 years will receive the jackpot prize. This prize jackpots annually and stands at $1,400 for 2012.

There are no day licences this year but the race is open to silver ride licence holders – join online for $77 and be insured all year.

5th May 2012 – Grafton Cycle Club Race Report

On a day when the twenty riders all experienced a share of the horrors on the undulations of Coaldale Road, Tony Brindle was able to dispose of his fellow back-markers and pass the rest of the field to record a comfortable win. Jye Reardon had started two minutes before Brindle and was the only one of the “Chopping Block” bunch able to go with Brindle, at least for a portion of the second lap of the 45 km course. Jye held on for second about 60 seconds behind Tony.

Bruce Phelps, also from the Chopping Block bunch, held third comfortably. Then came Andrew Ford, also from the Block bunch, then Tim Noble, Steve Wiblen and Chris Cropper.

Narelle Tilse was the first woman to finish, just ahead of Roz Donohoe.

28 Apr 2012 – Grafton Cycle Club Race Report

In wet and uncomfortable conditions at Coutts Crossing on Saturday, it was the wily Chris Cropper who pocketed the prize. Junior rider, Patrick Brennan was second on corrected times and Jye Reardon was third.

Fifteen riders braved the conditions and started together for thirty km. “Handicaps” had been secretly allocated to each rider that had to be deducted from their relative riding times at the end of the event. As expected, the A Grade riders were to break away from the rest. But the real question was “Who sees themselves as A Grade?” and who will let them go?
